Mahoning Golf Course
Our History
Centrally located between Youngstown, Warren, and Sharon, the Mahoning Golf Course first nine opened in 1899. The second nine opened a year later. It was originally called Liberty Country Club. The name was changed in the 1920’s to Mahoning Country Club and hosted events such as the 1941 and 1942 Mahoning Valley Open, in which all the top professionals participated.
The course became public around 1967 after a fire completely destroyed the clubhouse. John Ezzo purchased the course in 1943. Most changes to the course happened in the 1950’s, with 9 original holes still in play today. The Ezzo family continues to operate the course.
